Perhaps you are used to the bright lights of Vegas or the sounds of the clanking coins dropping into your bucket in Atlantic City. Or, perhaps you are one of those who scratch vigorously at the waxy silver material covering what you hope is your fortune on a slip of paper. There are many ways to gamble and many different types of gambling that can become addictive. Below is a list of some of the most popular types of gambling. Card Games Card games are some of the most interesting gambling games to play. Take low stakes blackjack, for example. It’s amazing how long you can play for $20 on a three dollar bid. Comparatively, Blackjack is a pretty simple game. Basically, in order to win, the cards you are dealt must come closer to equaling 21 than the dealer’s hand. Other card games, however, are not so easy. The game of Poker includes many varieties, including Seven Card Stud and Texas Hold ‘Em. Slots/Video Poker Then there are the slot machines and video poker. Slot machines are simply a matter of luck. Either you have it or you don’t. You may play fifty dollars on slots and win nothing. Six months later, a co-worker could win $5,000 from a slot machine. Video Poker is different in some respects. According to Casino Center, video poker is very different from the table game. There is some skill involved, unlike slots, but you are not sitting with a group of people who are watching your every move as you would be in blackjack or regular poker. Sports Bets Sports betting is a relatively common event and can be played without any special tickets, machines, or skill. You can build your own poll with friends and co-workers. Or you can bet at the race track or in national sports betting polls. Lottery Some states run a lottery. It often requires buying a ticket with the hopes of a huge monetary win. | Overview Types of Gambling Win/Loss Statistics Most Addictive Phases of Addiction Symptoms of Addiction Problem Gamblers Trends in Addiction Legal Aspects How to Get Help Feedback |
